The Cashier’s Office at Missouri S&T directly bills sponsoring agencies for tuition and fees. Additional details about third-party billing is available on the Cashier’s website.

Sponsoring agencies are required to provide a financial guarantee letter that outlines the terms of the scholarship. A financial guarantee is required before the student is issued an I-20 or DS-2019, before Missouri S&T can issue an invoice for tuition and fees, and in order for a student to maintain their valid immigration status. Financial guarantees are additionally a requirement of International Students to provide proof of financial support. This must remain valid at all times during the student's program. International Student and Scholar Services requires Sponsored Students to receive proof of support by their SEVIS registration deadline.

Sponsoring agencies or Sponsored Students can email financial guarantees to iasss@mst.edu. They must remain valid and be provided prior to SEVIS registration.

The financial guarantee must be formally addressed to Missouri S&T, and must include the following information:

  • Student’s name
  • Duration of sponsorship validity
  • Approved major and degree level
  • List of expenses covered by the sponsor that should be invoiced
  • Sponsor’s billing information, including contact name, mailing address, and email address

Sponsoring agencies may have specific scholarship guidelines. Sponsored Student Services will help guide students to meet these requirements. We ask students to sign an Letter Request Form which allows us to share student information with their sponsoring agency.

We provide official transcripts to sponsoring agencies at the end of each semester. We can provide verification letters and guide students who are requesting sponsor approval for concurrent enrollment and online coursework.

The Sponsored Student Services office provides advising services to students and sponsors and serves as a liaison between the student, their sponsor and the university.

Students whose sponsor does not provide health insurance will be automatically enrolled in the university health insurance. Insurance charges can either be billed directly to the student or included in the invoice sent to the sponsoring agency.

Students who receive medical health insurance provided by their sponsors are waived from the university health insurance provided we receive a copy of the insurance plan and it is approved. To be approved, sponsor’s insurance plans must include the following:

  • Medical benefits of at least $100,000 US Dollars per person, per accident, or illness.
  • Repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000 US Dollars.
  • Expenses associated with medical evacuation in the amount of $50,000 US Dollars.
  • A policy secured to fulfill the insurance requirements shall not have a deductible that exceeds $500 US Dollars per accident or illness.
  • The insurance company must maintain an office in the United States that is available to assist students, health care providers, and university staff.
  • Students are required to provide a copy of their insurance card to Missouri S&T.

Missouri S&T hosts numerous cultural programs throughout the year. Some events are specifically open to sponsored students’ family members and other international students at S&T.
