ISSS Gateway Portal

The ISSS Gateway Portal makes it easier for international students and scholars to make changes, submit requests, and contact their international advisors. From the ISSS Gateway Portal, all international students and scholars will be able to review their current requests, find information about requests they may need for their immigration status, and communicate with their international advisor. The Portal will provide a Step-By-Step Explanation of the process for each request made regarding a student or scholar's SEVIS record.

Before attempting to login, be sure to check your student email for a Welcome Invitation. You will not have access or be able to login to the portal until you have received that email. To login into your portal use your UM System assigned email here.

Be sure to select that you are logging in under your Campus ID. Your username will be your Student Email and your password will be the same one assigned to that email once you have set it up. To login into your portal use your um system-assigned email here. You should make sure that your student email is accessible prior to attempting to login. If you need assistance gaining access to your S&T Email Account contact IT Support. 

As an initial student who has just been admitted to S&T, you will need to upload and complete a request for your I-20 or DS-2019. You will not immediately gain access to your portal once admitted. Please be sure to make the enrollment fee/deposit payment. Once that payment has been made, you will receive an email to your student email about the I-20 process. 

  • To begin this process, review the information on the home page once you login (Tab #1).
  • Then review and upload the required documents based on Your Biographical Information, any Dependent Information, and Your Financial Information (Tabs #2-4).
  • Be sure to review the requirements of your financial documentation here. The required amount for your proof of financial support can be seen on our webpage for all degree levels Estimated Cost of Attendance
  • Once all documents and information have been provided you will be able to submit your request for your I-20 or DS-2019 on Tab #5. The complete button is located in the bottom right corner of the tab, if all information is not provided you will not be able to complete the I-20 or DS-2019 request.

If you receive an error, be sure to clear your browsing history or try another web browser (examples: Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.) 

As a current student at S&T, you will have access to many requests related to your non-immigrant status from on-campus employment, to CPT or OPT. Each request will provide additional information in your ISSS Gateway Portal which will allow you to understand what you are required to do before submitting documents to your international advisor. Just simply click on the request and follow the instructions provided. 

Each request will be located at the Request Center when you log in. Be sure to review the information provided on the request. Your international advisor will be notified of your request, will review your information, and notify you if there are any clarifications needed. 

You will have access to track your requests in your Portal and will receive email notifications when documents have been released on your documents section of the Request Center. 

You will also be able to review the current information reported in your SEVIS record related to employment authorization, contact information, funding information, and biographical data.

Academic Departments will need to initiate the request for any visiting scholars. To gain access email isss@mst.edu and we will contact you regarding your access request. If you are unable to access it, our office can initiate the request on your behalf. Limited access will be granted. Any sponsorship requests for visiting scholars (and non-employee appointments) are required to be vetted by Research Compliance. Non-employee appointments should be reported to Human Resources through the Courtesy Hire (non-employee) process

Visiting Scholars, once your profile has been created in your ISSS Portal, you will be invited to log in via the email provided to our office. Any missing documents not provided by your department will need to be uploaded for review for your DS-2019 to be issued.
