Newsflash Items of Interest to F-1 Students

The Office of International Affairs sends email notices of important developments related to the student's status to all international students who have registered for the office's list serve. Please list your name on the list serve by visiting the Office of International Affairs at 103 Norwood Hall between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

SPECIAL REGISTRATION

  • Students from the countries listed in the NSEERS announcement (National Security Entry and Exit Registration System) must visit the St. Louis immigration office for a special registration interview.
  • We advise students from the countries listed in the NSEERS announcement to refer to emails sent to the Office of International Affairs list serve.
  • The Office of International Affairs presented a workshop on NSEERS requirements and registration.
  • On 12.01.03 the Department of Homeland Security modified Special Registration requirements. Please see summary of new requirements: Revised Special Registration Requirements.

SEVIS FEES

  • Beginning Sept. 1, 2004, a new U.S. Department of Homeland Security rule requires F-1 and J-1 visa applicants to pay a $100 SEVIS fee.

NEW IMMIGRATION PHOTO REQUIREMENTS

  • Beginning Sept. 1, 2004, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service requires photos for all immigration applications to follow the guidelines described in this summary: Photos for Immigration Applications.
