International Undergraduate Transfer Students

 International undergraduate transfer students who wish to enter the Missouri University of Science and Technologyare required to:

  1. Submit an application for admission accompanied by a $35 admission fee in U.S. currency. For admission form, click here.
  2. Submit at the earliest possible date official transcripts (mark sheets) from all schools attended, showing courses taken, grades earned, rank in class, grade point average and class of division earned, if applicable. The applicant will be notified when evaluation is completed.
  3. Except for those for whom English is their native language and whose schooling has been in English, demonstrate by one of the following procedures a sufficient command of English to pursue work at the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

a. Take the TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 paper-based/213 computer-based. The minimum acceptable is 550/213 computer-based. Each student is responsible for obtaining all information concerning the test from:

The TOEFL Bulletin of Information and registration form also may be obtained in a number of cities outside the United States. They often are available at one of the following: American embassies and consulates, Offices of the United States Information Service (USIS), United States educational commissions and foundations abroad, and binational centers.

b. Take the test of International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Minimum acceptable overall band score is 6.5. Each student is responsible for obtaining all information concerning the test from:

c.  Students may also submit proof of completion of a recognized U.S-based  English as a Second Language program.
d.  Meeting minimum test scores for academic admission in placement testing through Missouri S&T's Applied Language Institute

  1. International students must pay all expenses while in school at Missouri S&T. There is no financial aid which can be made available. In order to be issued immigration documents, such as I-20, DS-2019, students must submit a statement verifying ability to provide financial support, such as a financial statement made by the sponsor or bank, indicating source and amount of funds available per year.   2. Students transferring from another American college or university are required to complete at least one semester before transferring to Missouri S&T.

6.      Students transferring from another American college or university must have Missouri S&T’s School Transfer Eligibility Form completed by the international students’ advisor from the American institutions they have attended.

All of these completed application materials, with the exception of item no. 4, must be received by the deadlines below or admission will be delayed one semester:

  • Fall semester – June 15
  • Spring semester – Nov. 15
  • Summer session – April 1

The fourth item must be received before immigration documents can be issued.

Mandatory Health Insurance

In addition to these requirements for admission, international students must also purchase mandatory health insurance. This includes all F-1 and J-1 visa students. J-1 visa students whose spouse and/or children are living in the United States are required to carry health insurance for their dependents as well.

An independent carrier, working through Missouri S&T’s Office of International Affairs, provides an insurance policy at a reasonable cost. Premiums must be paid within two weeks of the beginning of the fall and spring semester. (Summer premiums are included in the spring semester.)

 Immunization Requirements/TB Testing

Students must have a health history and immunization record on file at Missouri S&T Health Services.

All international students are required to have a Mantoux skin test for tuberculosis. Testing with the Mantoux two-step skin test must be done or verified, at no charge, at Missouri S&T Student Health Center. If a skin test is positive, a further test involving a chest X-ray must be administered to determine if active tuberculosis is present.

All students who test positive for tuberculosis shall be offered tuberculosis medication and must be directly observed taking their medicine at Student Health Center for the designated time period.

Enrollment is contingent upon completion of TB testing and possible treatment as described above.
