Undergraduate Student Checklist

For new international students who wish to enroll in Missouri University of Science and Technology, please follow this checklist for step-by-step instructions.

  • Submit your online application
    • For detailed application instructions for international first-time freshman students, please click here.
    • For detailed application instructions for international undergraduate transfer students, please click here.
  • Pay $50 application fee
  • Email scanned copy of your transcripts to iarecruit@mst.edu
    •  The admission decision can be made based on your scanned transcripts, but official transcripts must be mailed to the Office of Admissions prior to enrolling in class.
  • Submit official English test scores (minimum TOEFL of 79 or minimum IELTS of 6.0)
    •  Request ETS submit official TOELF score – institutional code is 6876.
    • Request IELTS submit official score – mail to:

  • Check application status
  • Office of Admissions will notify you by email when an admission decision has been reached
  • Request official transcripts be mailed to:

  • Submit your financial statement to ia@mast.edu
    • If you are a sponsored student on full scholarship from your home government, company, or other sponsoring organization, please send an email to iasss@mst.edu for assistance in obtaining your financial guarantee.
  • Your International Advisor will review your financial statement and contact you when your I-20 or DS-2019 has been issued
    •  If you are currently studying English at another school in the United States, or if you are transferring from another college or university in the United States, your current school will transfer your SEVIS (immigration) record at the end of the current school term. A new I-20 or DS-2019 will be issued once your SEVIS record has been transferred to Missouri S&T. Please contact your international student advisor or iarecruit@mst.edu if you have questions.
  • Arrange for shipment of your immigration documents through eShipGlobal’s University Express Mail Service (UEMS)
  • Your immigration documents will be mailed to you, in addition to your admission letter and welcome packet from Missouri S&T
  • Make an appointment for your student visa after receiving your immigration documents
  • Register for advising and orientation
    • First-time freshman students should register for PRO day.
    • Transfer students should register for Transfer Advising day.
    • Transfer students coming from one of S&T's partner universities will have a specialized transfer advising. Email iarecruit@mst.edu for details.
  • Submit a Housing Application
    • Missouri S&T's Residency Policy requires students that are freshman, sophomore, or under the age of 21 to live in residence halls or in university approved housing.
    • Students over the age of 21 are not required to live on campus. If you wish to live in on-campus housing, please submit a housing request.

  • Review new student medical requirements
  • Plan to arrive in Rolla, Missouri before August 8, 2017, for New International Student Orientation


  • Check-in with the Office of International and Cultural Affairs (OICA) in 103 Norwood Hall, or attend New International Student Orientation
    • Bring your passport, visa, and original I-20 or DS-2019.
  • Attend New International Student Orientation on August 8, 2017, in Havener Center
  • Complete English language proficiency testing August 9, 2017
    • If you were admitted to S&T based on your academic record, but have not provided proof of meeting the English language proficiency requirement, you must complete English language proficiency testing, administered by the Intensive English Program (IEP) staff.
    • If you have met the English language requirement, this testing is not required.
  • Register for classes
    • First-time freshman: you will meet your assigned academic advisor during PRO day.
    • Transfer students: you will meet your assigned academic advisor during Transfer Advising Day.
    • Transfer students from our partner universities: you will meet your academic advisor during the specialized transfer advising day – email iarecruit@mst.edu for details.
  • Purchase required health insurance
    • After you register for classes, your student account will automatically be charged the health insurance fee.
  • Submit health forms to Missouri S&T Student Health Services
    • Forms may be submitted to the Student Health Services booth at the International Miners Fair on International Student Orientation day, or you may submit the forms directly to Student Health Services at 910 West 10th Street, Rolla, MO 65409 USA.
  • Activate your Missouri S&T email address
  • Attend the Fall Welcome Picnic On Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Schuman Park
  • Start classes on August 21, 2017 – first day of Fall Semester 2017
